Land of Gold Mountain
Museum Exhibition | 2025–2026
Chinese American Museum of Chicago
Land of Gold Mountain explores Chinese American history, immigration, identity, and the experiences of communities whose stories are often overlooked.
Presented at the Chinese American Museum of Chicago, the exhibition brings together personal memories, historical narratives, and contemporary visual interpretations of the Chinese American experience.
Growing up in Chicago's Chinatown after immigrating from China as a child, I developed a deep connection to the neighborhood and its people. These experiences became the foundation for an ongoing body of work that examines the relationship between personal history and the larger Chinese American story.
Through figurative paintings, historical references, and imaginative compositions, the exhibition revisits the lives, struggles, traditions, and contributions of Chinese Americans. Works such as Quon Gong connect individual stories with broader cultural history.
Land of Gold Mountain is both a reflection on the past and a continuing exploration of how memory, history, and art shape our understanding of identity and belonging.
