Gardens, Mixed Media Abstractions
Gardens explores the colors, textures, and organic forms found in nature through abstract painting.
Flowers, leaves, stems, and other elements of a garden become starting points for compositions developed through color, movement, and experimentation.
Working with oil, pencil, pastel, ink, and glued materials on canvas, the process allows different surfaces and marks to interact. Layers are added, covered, scratched, and reconsidered as the paintings develop.
Rather than depicting a particular garden, the series explores how familiar natural forms can be transformed into new visual relationships.
Each painting develops through an ongoing exchange between spontaneous gestures and deliberate compositional decisions.
